The study compared natural remedies for nits combining tea tree oil, peppermint, and lavender oil to synthetic material DEET as forms of repellent against lice. Tea tree oil and peppermint combined were shown to be an effective repellent. The study found Tea tree oil with lavender prevented some blood feeding by lice. However, Tea tree oil, on it’s own, was the most effective treatment.

Mix together 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil, 30ml of natural shampoo and 3 tablespoons of Coconut oil or olive oil.
Apply the solution gently throughout your hair and cover your head with a shower cap or towel.
Leave your head covered for a half an hour and then rinse thoroughly with hot water.
Finally, comb through your hair while it is still wet to remove the dead lice.
How to prevent nits naturally.
This home remedy to prevent nits requires water soluble tea tree oil. The formula will vary depending on the brand of water soluble tea tree you buy. Tea Tree levels in Water soluble tea tree products vary anywhere from 5% to 15%. Based on CORAKI Water Soluble Organic Tea Tree oil, use the following formula.
Combine 40ml Water Soluble Organic Tea Tree oil with 1 liter of water in a spray bottle
Shake well to combine
Spray hair each morning before leaving for school
Also use natural shampoo and conditions which contain either on it’s own or combine with lavender and/or peppermint.
